Anne Quirynen's films and video installations have been shown at international festivals such as the International Festival of New Film Split, Rotterdam Film Festival, European Media Art Festival Osnabrück, World Wide Video Festival Den Haag or Art & Video in Europe Copenhagen as well as in art centers such as Centre Pompidou Paris, MoMA New York, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam or Nippon Cultural Centre Tokyo.


Teaching and lecturing activities

  • Since 2007 Professor for Moving Image in the study program "European Media Studies", a cooperation project of the University of Potsdam (Institut für Künste und Medien) and the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (Department of Design)

  • Freelance artist since 1989
  • 1998-2001 Co-founder of Dziga vzw, an association for the promotion of experimental film and new media
  • 1994-2002 Co-founder and managing director of De Filmfabriek, production house for digital films and interdisciplinary experimental media productions, Bierbeek, Belgium. 2002-2012 Continued as co-owner and consultant for various projects
  • 1990-1997 Regular collaboration with William Forsythe, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Wim Vandekeybus and Walter Verdin as freelance director and producer
  • 1989-1992 Director at the Vlaams Theater Instituut, Brussels and at the Audiovisuele Dienst, University of Leuven, Belgium
