Biografie

  • Ihre Filme und Videoinstallationen werden auf Internationalen Festivals wie dem International Festival of New Film Split, Rotterdam Filmfestival, European Media Art Festival Osnabrück, World Wide Video Festival Den Haag oder Art & Video in Europe Kopenhagen gezeigt wie auch in Kunstzentren wie dem Centre Pompodou Paris, dem MoMA New York, dem Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam oder dem Nippon Cultural Centre Tokyo.

  • 2003: Dozentin für Videoinstallation am Chicagoer School of the Art Institute
  • 1999: Ein Stipendium des Nipkow Programms führt sie nach Berlin, im folgenden Jahr: Besuch eines Fortbildungskurses für Digitale Filmproduktion in Babelsberg.
  • 1994: Mitbegründerin der unabhängigen Produktionsfirma für Digitale Kunst "De Filmfabriek".

    Berliner Festspiele - KONZERT OPER 04
    Eight right-angled white screens form a circle around the public and the musicians. They are sitting in the inner circle of the so called zoetrope.
    Video installation as stage setting for a concert based upon the work of W.S. Burroughs.

    One channel colour video playback on a glass plate suspended from the ceiling. Two channels amplified sound.

  • Everything will be allright
    Seven channels colour video playback on 2*3 screens and one monitor. Six channels amplified sound.
    Humans are afloat in narrow containers, weightless and most of the time motionless. There are two rows of containers, seamlessly attached. As in a Museum of Natural History, the visitor can walk between the two rows or between the screens and the projectors. Every now and then a wave of motion goes through the containers, as if something disturbs the hibernating creatures - but this passes and everything goes on in the same soothing way.   • The Mindmachine of Dr. Forsythe
    Seven channels colour video playback on six glassplates, hanging on six huge cranes. Two channels amplified sound.

    Nine dancers of the Ballett of Frankfurt, move slowly on glass. As bacteria stranded in a giant microscope. They leave their bodies' imprints on glass, redrawn and rewritten with every new movement made. Transcriptions - glyphs on glass. Antwerpen Kulturhaupstadt 1993,

  • The Lady is Hungry (in preproduction)
    Play with the imagination of women bodies on various levels, by women filmmakers and artists since the last twenty years. The essay film wants to examine the evolution of women images from the seventies to the digital image worlds now. The Lady is Hungry explores and links to topics like geography, body, technology and history.

  • In a landscape
    The video creates a series of explorative spaces of Berlin during the night. With extreme digital zooms I filmed connections between these spaces, me as an observer and other women. Based upon the music of John Cage, In a Landscape.

1997

  • The Way of the Weed
    Year is 7079. Researcher Thomas McManus is dropped in a desert and is meant to find out about an old experiment. He gathers samples of the desert grounds and discovers the collector, the place where the former experiment used to take place. He manages to hack into the computer and is stunned: instead of discovering weed and weed movements he stumbles into a team of weed researchers, or rather whats left of them.
    Based upon ‚Locus Solus' of Raymond Roussel.
    Co-Directed by Peter Missotten and An-Marie Lambrechts.

    The Eidos Telos clips are based on the choreography by William Forsythe. Each clip is a short fly over by helicopter of the performance. Most of them are shaky or blurred, emprissonned in our ultrabright searchlight.

    • The Cutting - digital video – 90'
      A thriller on synchronicity, written by Paul Pourveur and directed by Peter Misotten and Bram Smeyers.
      Three young men are, for unclear reasons, trapped in a sunken road. No matter how hard they try to escape, they always return to the same place. They experience what happens when reality starts to die away. One of them is wounded. The second one tries to heal him. So who is the third one? The story then shifts from a typical Whodunnit to a verbal search for a grip on the reallity.

    • Soeurs Lumières – digital video - 20'
      Written and directed by Karen Vanderborght.
      An experimental film about 2 girls, both fascinated by light. They promised each other to write although they will never see each other, until one of them has a car crash.

    • State of Dogs- 35mm – 90'
      State of Dogs is a mix of personal journey and social commentary. The film is structured by the reminiscences of Basaar, a stray dog killed by a hunter in Ulan Bator. Mongolians believe that dogs are reincarnated as human beings, but Basaar is reluctant to accept this fate. Basaar's story is intertwined with Mongolian myth and contemporary verse. A feature film written and directed by Peter Brosens.

    • Matroos - digital video – 16'
      Dreaming about exotic countries, marvelous starry skies and inevitable homesickness that would bring his Sailor friend back, a teenager faces Directed by Bavo Defurne.

    • Bereft of a Blissfull Union - 16mm
      Dancers tumbling into water and drowning because the surface is covered by a huge sheepskin on which a sleeping woman lies - a reference to the mad Ophelia who drowns herself. The men are pulled into the depths by women wearing dog masks. The fish-like swimmers beat the underside of the surface. From panic or from anger? On the other side the beautiful Ophelia is startled by the literal underskin force. What rumbles in her head?

      A feature film based on the theatre play of Robert Musil. The film is directed by Franscisca Lambrechts.

      A film based on the dance performance choreographed by Michèle Anne De Mey.Filmed in Spain. The film is directed by Thiery De Mey.

    • Saïd and Marry - 16 mm – 26'
      Wim Vandekeybus incorporates elements of the story of Kalina and Petkutin by Milorad Pavíc. The setting in Morocco stands for a brutality and vitality that is at once liberating and alarming: dream and nightmare at the same

    • Videofragments/Erts - videoinstallation
      During the dance performance 'Erts' choreographed by Anne-Teresa De Keersmaeker, several video's are projected. These are directed by Walter Verdin.

    • Elba en Federico - 16 mm – 26'
      Based on a book by Italo Calvino, it tells the story the couple Elba and Federico. The man works at night, the woman during the day. Directed by Wim Vandekeybus.
      Best short film, Brussels Filmfestival 1994.
